Richard Donner's biographer James Christie relates how the director confused cinematographer László Kovács with his fellow Hungarian Vilmos Zsigmond, referring to him as "Vilmos" repeatedly. When Zsigmond dropped by the set to visit, Donner had T-shirts made up that read "MY NAME IS NOT LÁSZLÓ" and "MY NAME IS NOT VILMOS" for each of them. Later they switched shirts and confused everyone.
In the film, Max's Bar features a "Superman" pinball machine depicting Christopher Reeve as Superman. The film's director Richard Donner had previously directed Superman (1978) and also did uncredited directorial work on the Superman II (1980) which debuted the same 1980 year as Inside Moves (1980).
"Blue Lewis: [reading a story] Her huge melons glistened in the moonlight, she smiled, taunting him- then slowly, ever so slowly she began to undo... underher... Stinky: Undulate? Blue Lewis: Undulate... Stinky: Undulate what? Her hips? Blue Lewis: Yes, yes, her hips. Stinky: Go ahead! Go ahead! Blue Lewis: As her breasts moved towards him bubbling in the night air, he couldn't help but notice how she had grown from that small child from whom he had once babysat. [shakes his head] Blue Lewis: He reached out... Stinky: Go ahead! Go ahead! Blue Lewis: [swallowing] ... and gently touched her large brown, ore... OH!... A-U-R-E-O-L-E-S. Stinky: Aureoles? Oh, you're killin' the story! Her large brown aureoles? Blue Lewis: Uh what? He touched her cookies?"
"Roary: I've jumped from a building. I tried to commit suicide. Stinky: Hey, you've got it all backwards. First you get crippled then you try to commit suicide!"
