Trivia

The scene where Richard Linklater leaves a note for the sleeping woman is not staged. While waiting for their respective departures, the woman actually fell asleep and Linklater filmed his writing of the goodbye note before he left. In the audio commentary, Linklater admitted to wondering what became of her since.

This film is featured on second disc of the Slacker (1990) DVD released in 2004 by the Criterion Collection.

The b&w film that Richard Linklater's character is watching towards the end of the feature is Danish film director Carl Theodor Dreyer's Gertrud (1965).

Made over the course of two years.

Shot on a Super 8 camera.
