It is one of Netflix's most ambitious Japanese anime series. The biggest takeaway for the series is to not binge-watch it. All of the episodes have been woven with masterclass, and have heavy substance in each of them. Instead go through each one to truly absorb the elegance and story behind them. The work on the animation and the voiceover in these series is brilliant. It feels a lot like the real deal, which is what every anime guns for. This slow burn anthology is a good introduction into Junji Ito's work. The famed storyteller is known for his gripping pieces of art, which are well depicted in this one. The series combines feelings of humour, terror, horror, weirdness, and art in one.
A secondary short story runs across the entire series in the form of a first person narrative after the credits at the end of each episode.
