This tragic and utterly enthralling picture, written and directed by Swiss/Indian Kamal Musale (better known for films like "Curry Western" and "Millions Can Walk"), is a fascinating tale of connected fates. As he reveals the inner workings of the two passionate and unyielding women from two different generations, whose lives are interwoven by the darkness they encounter in their own lives, Musale's evocatively created tale spans two different timelines in parallel fashion. As Mother Teresa comes to Calcutta, India, a year before Independence, we get to see her in her early years as masterfully portrayed by Swiss actress Jacqueline Fritschi-Cornaz. Her life as Mother Superior of the Sisters of Charity began once the archbishop granted her desire to create her own organisation. The first scene of the movie shows Mother Teresa scavenging for food to feed 300 orphan girls she is caring for who are famished. The younger Mother Teresa encounters unsavoury characters who physically threaten her while wearing her customary modest white sari with blue borders during a period of political turmoil, rioting, and unrest. It's a pattern that she experiences again in the first several years of her life in India as she tries to help the poor, the sick, and the homeless. Kavita (Banita Sandhu), an affluent young violinist of Indian descent residing in the UK, struggles with self-doubt as a result of a failed relationship that left her feeling abandoned and burdened with an unintended pregnancy.
