Divya Bharati had shot 80% of the film before her death, which had to be re shot with Sridevi.

Divya Bharti was originally cast as Sheetal but she died before filming was completed and was replaced by Sridevi. Some footage of her performance was seen in a television program in 1994.
Nagma was first approached for the lead role because she was in the original Telugu hit. But she had decided to leave Hindi films so she rejected the offer.
Midway thru the film, Paresh Rawal was very upset about the way his role was shaping up. He wanted to leave the film but thought it would be unprofessional to do so.
