IMDbIn general, I like Aamir Khan's movie. But the movie name Lal Singh Chadda is a movie inspired by a Hollywood movie named 'Forrest Gump, where Gump has a low IQ but still manages to be in the Army. In spite of having a lower IQ, he manages to understand everyone, and whenever someone tells him to do something, he can do such thing as the person said to do so. This helped him in so many ways and make him a good soldier. After the war ended, he left the army and started a business with a friend. He became very famous and rich, and he started narrating a story to people waiting at a bus stop. This movie follows the same storyline and plot, but the acting of Aamir Khan was not good in my opinion. It feels like an insult to the Hollywood movie. Although it is my personal opinion. But you can also feel the same if you have watched Forest Gump and now you're watching Lal Singh Chadda you will feel the cringe because of the acting of both leads Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor.

It took 8 years for production team including Aamir Khan to get the rights from Robert Zemeckis (Director of Forest Gump) for making this hindi remake. Aamir had also approached Steven Spielberg to put in a word to Robert Zemeckis to allow for a hindi remake.
Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Mona Singh reunited after 3 Idiots (2009). Mona Singh played Kareena's elder sister in that film and was depicted as being slightly older than Aamir Khan's character. In this film she played his mother. She is much younger than him in real life.
Aamir Khan and his team had filmed some scenes at Jatayu Para in Chadayamangalam near Kollam which is famous for its giant rock sculpture of Jatayu, the mythical bird in Ramayana.
The film was shot in around 100 different locations over the world, including India and Turkey.
In 1994, director Kundan Shah had planned an unofficial remake of Forrest Gump (1994), tentatively titled "Sheikh Chilli", with Anil Kapoor signed for the lead role. Anil later dropped out of the project due to unknown reasons. Kundan Shah then signed Shah Rukh Khan, with Sanjay Dutt also being approached for the same role. The film, however, did not go past the announcement stage. It was finally restarted in 1996 with Anil Kapoor and Manisha Koirala in the lead roles, Firoz Nadiadwala as the producer, Ranjeet Kapoor as the writer and music provided by Jatin-Lalit.
