Rotten TomatoesThis show is genuinely eye-opening in regards to the extent to which America and many other nations have defective regulation, discriminatory laws, and several unjust practise standards that the mainstream media just does not cover in specificity. They've even brought attention to a wide range of topics through engaging campaigns and websites. The jokes, some of which are intelligently intermingled with the harsh unknown realities of life, are hilarious, hard-hitting for the most part, but occasionally they get a bit too inappropriate, and unpleasant language is used much too frequently. This show is one of my favourite tv shows, and his thoroughly researched, sharp sarcasm is something we look forward to each week.

After hosting The Daily Show (1996) for eight weeks, John Oliver's reviews were so overwhelmingly positive that he was offered a job by HBO to do a weekly talk show, which they were not planning to do until they saw Oliver host.
Oliver insisted on 100% creative and editorial control before agreeing to do the program, which HBO granted.
HBO initially planned on the program being on five nights a week. However, Oliver thought the pace of a daily program was taxing and thought one night a week would give them a better shot at a higher quality show.
Oliver insisted on no correspondents or co-hosts, as he did not want the show to be a clone of The Daily Show (1996).
The theme song is "Go" by Valley Lodge.
"[repeated line] John Oliver - Host: The point is."
"John Oliver - Host: [Repeated Line] Welcome, welcome, welcome to Last Week Tonight! I'm John Oliver; thank you so much for joining us! Just time for a quick recap of the week."
