Lingaa name came from rajni's grandson "lingaa danush"

The movie "Lingaa" is shot around the dam Linganamakki in Karnataka .

Lingaa marks the 1st Rajinikanth film to release on his birthday, December 12. (Note, his 2007 film "Sivaji the Boss" was re-released in its 3D-converted version on his birthday in December 12, 2012, but as it is a re-release, it does not count)

This marks the first time two Rajinikanth films have released in the same year since 1995, when both Baasha and Muthu released. The other film released this year was Kochadaiiyaan

Lingaa is the 1st Tamil film to release in IMAX screens in the US. The 1st Tamil film to release in an international screen in IMAX was Kaththi, in Norway.
