TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

This movie was initially supposed to be released in October 1999. Its trailer was in theaters in Summer 1999. However, due to a flood of "end of the world" movies coming out at the same time (End of Days (1999), Stigmata (1999), et cetera), the decision was made to delay the release. Its new date was February 4, 2000. However, that date was cancelled, after the popular "Scream" franchise staked out that date for Scream 3 (2000). The final release date of October 13, 2000, was finally decided upon, which also happened to be the same day as the re-release of The Exorcist (1973).

Upon this movie's release, much was made of the fact that Winona Ryder chose not to do any promotional work for the movie. Her contractual obligation to do so had lapsed, when the release was postponed from 1999 to the following year.

One of the four movies that received an "F" CinemaScore from audiences upon their release in 2000, along with Eye of the Beholder (1999), Dr. T & the Women (2000), and Lucky Numbers (2000).

Janusz Kaminski's directorial debut.

Contrary to popular belief, Sibi Blazic became Winona Ryder's assistant on the set of this film, not Little Women (1994). It was sometime afterwards, in late 1998 or early 1999, when Ryder introduced Blazic to her future husband, and Ryder's friend and former co-star, Christian Bale.

Popular Dialogues

"Maya Larkin: You're about to become the Antichrist who is born unholy and becomes the door to eternal suffering in this world."

"[last lines] Peter Kelson: Maya, please, it's me. It's me. It's me."
