Principal photography began in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in June 2022. Production concluded by August 2022.

The film began test screening in February 2023. According to one account, the "audience was having visceral reactions to the gore, blood and puking throughout" during a screening in New York City.

Second feature film directed by Rose Glass. The film is a co-production between Film4 and A24, with the latter being the US distributor for Glass' debut Saint Maud (2019).
