Maharashtra Shahir, directed by Kedar Shinde, pays tribute to the late Krishnarao Ganpatrao Sable, known as Shahir Sable, through a realistic and authentic biopic. Actor Ankush Chaudhari, who has a personal connection to Sable, delivers one of his best performances as the titular character. The film portrays the highs and lows of Sable's journey, from his transformation from 'Kisna' to Shahir Sable, to his significant contributions to Maharashtra's folk art and the Samyukta Maharashtra Movement. While the first half of the film sets a laidback pace, the second half shines with its depiction of Sable's achievements, including his iconic Maharashtra Geet - 'Jai Jai Maharashtra Majha.' The inclusion of historical figures like Sane Guruji, Sant Gadge Maharaj, Balasaheb Thackeray, and others adds depth to the narrative, taking viewers on a journey through Maharashtra's rich history. Director Kedar Shinde has done an impressive job, supported by talented actors such as Ankush Chaudhari, who embodies the character's spirit flawlessly. The costume and makeup departments deserve credit for their efforts in creating a striking resemblance to Shahir Sable. Sana Shinde, Nirmitee Sawant, and Shubhangi Sadvarte also deliver commendable performances. Maharashtra Shahir is a must-watch, especially with Maharashtra Day approaching.
