The reason why Max and Ruby's parents were never originally seen or mentioned is that Rosemary Wells believes children should try to solve their problems by themselves.
Max and Ruby are the only characters to appear in every episode.
Their last names and ages are never mentioned.
During the the third season of the series run, these season 4 & 5 episodes, with the exception of Ruby's home run & Ruby's hand stand and the rest of the season 4 and 5 episodes were repackaged into three episodes, though they were never actually included with Season 3. This was, likely, because the first season had 12 episodes. In these versions of the season 4 and 5 episodes, Max's lines were re dubbed by his old actor, Billy Rosemberg.
The show is based on a series of kids' books written by author Rosemary Wells. The first book was published in 1997.
