TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

Inspired by the BBC documentary series, "The Choir: Military Wives". The series followed the progress of choirmaster Gareth Malone visiting various military bases around England to form choirs, in order to help bring together the remaining wives and partners of serving military personnel. Malone formed the first choir at RMB Chivenor, and another at the Royal Citadel in Plymouth. The series brought the two choirs together to perform "Wherever You Are", a song created by Welsh composer, Paul Mealor from extracts of letters sent between the military wives and their serving partners. This was performed at the Royal Albert Hall in November 2011 for The Royal British Legion's Festival of Remembrance. Since the series end, more than 75 military wives choirs have been formed, and they are now a registered charity.

Contrary to popular opinion, Gareth Malone did not start the first choir. The first choir was formed in Catterick Garrison (one of the reasons the film was largely made there, and why Gareth was happy not to appear in the film). Gareth's TV series brought the choirs to public attention and it encouraged more choirs to form and setting up of the charity.

It was released in the United Kingdom on 6 March 2020 and was scheduled to be released in the United States on 27 March. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was re-scheduled to 22 May 2020, where the film will be released on video on demand instead of a planned theatrical release.

Most of the indoor scenes, including the coffee morning and song rehearsals, were filmed at Kingston Upon Thames.

Although not widely acknowledged many of the military locations in the film were shot at RAF Halton.

Popular Dialogues

"Lisa: [about the singing at the very first choir rehearsal] It was like incantations of a bunch of witches."
