TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

Nicolas Cage said this was his favorite movie that he had filmed in 10 years.

John Waters named this film among his top 10 favorites released in 2018. Ironically, it shares a title with Mom and Dad (1945), a film that Waters has previously cited as having a huge impact on his aesthetics and career trajectory.

The film featured cameos from Grant Morrison and Bokeem Woodbine. Morrison was the writer of Happy! (2017), which was adapted for television by Mom and Dad (2017) director Brian Taylor. Also features Joseph D. Reitman as a school teacher in the beginning of the film, as well as playing the "bad Santa" in season one of Happy! (2017)

In one scene, Nicolas Cage's character has a quick flashback into his younger years where he is driving recklessly with a topless woman straddling him. This sequence is also used for Christopher Meloni's character Nick Sax in Happy!: The War on Easter (2019), when he has a flashback into his younger years during a sit-down with his daughter's teacher. Brian Taylor directed both the movie and the episode.

When the teacher asks the class for the definition of Planned Obsolescence he sneaks in the famous line from Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986) - "Anyone? Bueller?"
