Portraying Dindim were 10 rescue penguins from Ubatuba, Brazil. In the movie, 80 percent of the shots are of real penguins. For the other 20 percent, where the situation would be unsafe for a real penguin, 15 percent of the shots are CGI and then 5 percent were animatronics.
This film is based on the true story of Brazilian fisherman João Pereira de Souza and Dindim the penguin, which went viral in 2016.
