The film follows Joe, an introverted rocket mechanic, and Fran, a brilliant astro-botanist developing the world's first plant-powered rocket. When they are brought together for the rocket's inaugural launch, sparks fly, but neither is adept at romance. Their lives become more complicated when three tiny, unruly aliens named Dunk, Welly, and Shirm, who are on the run from an inept intergalactic officer, take refuge in Joe's home and see the rocket as their only means of escape.
