Story

Candice Bergen takes over the female lead from Ali MacGraw. Ali MacGraw had previously been married to Steve McQueen, and appeared in The Winds of War (1983). Candice Bergen appeared in The Sand Pebbles (1966) with both Steve McQueen and Richard Attenborough. Richard Attenborough directed both Ryan O'Neal in A Bridge Too Far (1977), and Candice Bergen in Gandhi (1982). The latter film also featured John Gielgud, who appeared in The Winds of War (1983)'s sequel, War and Remembrance (1988), in which Ali MacGraw was replaced by Richard Attenborough's former daughter-in-law, Jane Seymour.
