Akhil Sathyan's Pachuvum Albhuthavilakkum follows the footsteps of Sathyan Anthikad's heartwarming filmmaking style. It's a delightful entertainer that elicits smiles, touches of sadness, and empathy. However, the film's nearly three-hour length could have been more perfect had it focused more on the main story instead of introducing unnecessary romantic elements. Fahadh Faasil shines as Prakashan, a charismatic character running an ayurveda pharmacy in Mumbai. During his short visit to Kerala, he faces unexpected delays due to a domestic accident. This leads him to accompany his landlord's mother on a train journey to Mumbai. Along the way, the spirited senior disembarks in Goa, and Prakashan's mission becomes helping her fulfill her desires. In return, she promises him ownership of the shop space. The temptation of this offer drives Prakashan, uncovering empathy and love in the process. Akhil's storytelling showcases intriguing side characters, but at times, the desire for feel-good situations appears overly idealistic. The portrayal of flawed yet relatable characters, such as Vineeth's Riyas, strikes a balance between toughness and tenderness. However, Prakashan's failure to be honest with Dhwani (played by Anjana Jayaprakash), who supports him in difficult times, detracts from his otherwise honest persona. Pachuvum Albhuthavilakkum is a nostalgic throwback to the sweet films of the 80s and 90s, making it a perfect choice for a family watch.
