Trivia

Peter Morton has an Apple Macintosh computer, but does not own a television. Stephen Fry was actually the second person in the U.K. to purchase a Mac PC, after Douglas Adams bought the first two.

Several members of the leading cast did actually attend college together at Cambridge University. Stephen Fry, Dame Emma Thompson, Hugh Laurie, and Tony Slattery were also all members of the Cambridge Footlights Amateur Dramatic Club.

The entire opening scene, which includes the dance, the backstage banter, and the final picture, was done in one take that lasts four minutes.

Phyllida Law (Vera) is the mother of Emma Thompson and, at the time that the film was made, the mother-in-law of producer and director Kenneth Branagh (Andrew).

Hugh Laurie wrote Roger's coffee jingle.

Popular Dialogues

"[knocking on Peter's bedroom door in the middle of the night] Maggie: Fill me with your little babies!"
