The font used for the credits in this series is the same used for The NBC Tuesday Mystery Movie (1971) and especially Columbo (1971), which is fitting seeing as the main character Charlie Cale (Natasha Lyonne) uses many of the "just one more thing" tricks to questioning suspects, similar to Columbo.
Charlie drives a fastback 1967 Plymouth Barracuda.
Rian Johnson's first TV series that he created. Johnson previously directed episodes of Breaking Bad (2008) and Terriers (2010).
Most episodes begin with a murder, while the main character (Charlie) is not visible. It then usually flashes back in time to show how Charlie happened to be visiting that part of the world and how she met the murder victim before their demise, revealing that she was actually part of the bigger picture when the murder took place.
Both S. Epatha Merkerson and Benjamin Pratt played law enforcement officers in the crime serious Law & Order.
