Poovan Review

Poovan, a Malayalam film directed by Vineeth Vasudevan, had an interesting premise of a rooster disrupting the sleep of a young man in the neighborhood. However, the execution of the storyline was disappointing, and the climax failed to deliver. The film attempted to portray realistic characters, but aside from Akhila Bhargavan's Veena, none of the characters stood out as remarkable. Lead actor Antony Varghese struggled to portray a man suffering from sleeplessness, making his character, Hari, come off as boring and irritating. In contrast, Vineeth Vishwam's Manu, Hari's friend, and Bindhu Satishkumar's Mariyamma were more interesting characters. The film included three romantic storylines, but only the initial wooing between Veena and Kannan was compelling. Overall, the film felt like a patchwork job, making it challenging to remain invested in the characters and their stories. The film's music was by Midhun Mukundan, and Sajith Purushan handled the cinematography.
