Cheryl (Ayn Ruymen) yells "Alice doesn't live here anymore!," two years before the completely unrelated movie Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore (1974) was released.
Some newspapers refused to print the title of the film in advertisements.
Upon its initial release, the film was advertised in local newspapers without the title. Described as "too shocking to print," readers were asked to call theatres showing the film to find what the title was.
The hotel featured in the film, the King Edward, still stands. In 2018 it was purchased by a non-profit organization with plans to convert the building and its 150 rooms into low-cost single-occupancy "transitional" housing.
Per an article on the Turner Classic Movies website about this film the role of "Aunt Martha" was intended for Mary Astor.
"Cheryl Stratton: Alice doesn't live here anymore!"
"Aunt Martha: I thought she was just a child. But she's like all the rest in this family. Can't wait to wiggle her little body to get men all riled up. George Atwood: That's the way women are. If they were any different, they'd be freaks."
