TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

The film's theatrical trailer features stock footage from the original Japanese version of it, also named Pulse (2001). One scene in particular features a plane crash. The scene was re-done for this Americanized remake.

In the film Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008), also starring Kristen Bell, during the dinner scene, a film very similar in plot to Pulse is talked about that Sarah was in. It is humorously referred to as a terrible film with a ridiculous premise.

In an interview with Fangoria magazine, Wes Craven personally disowned the film and said that he hated it. His original screenplay for the film was significantly altered by screenwriter Ray Wright with various re-writes, and the final version of the film barely even resembled his original vision for it. He also ultimately claimed that he had no involvement in said final version of the film.

Bob Weinstein and Harvey Weinstein were initially hesitant to produce this film, considering it to be too similar to The Ring (2002) in its story. Both films are Americanized remakes of classic Japanese horror films.

Wes Craven was once set to direct the film, but quit before production even began, which led it to be officially scrapped at one point in its making.

Popular Dialogues

"Mattie Webber: Just like Josh said, he pulled something through... Dexter McCarthy: Pulled ghosts through the Wi-Fi? It just doesn't make any sense. Thin Bookish Guy: [adding to their conversation] It makes all the sense in the world. Do you have any idea of the amount of data that's floating out there? The amount of information we just beam into the air? We broadcast to everyone where we are, and we think we're safe? The whole freakin' city is going insane, and we're acting like it's nothing. Well, it's not nothing. It's something we don't understand, and it is coming for us. Goth Girl: You're freaking us out, man. Thin Bookish Guy: It's the end of the world. That's what it is. Goth Girl: Maybe it's the booze in your coffee."

"Douglas Zieglar: The last thing you want, the last thing you ever want is for them to get to you. 'Cause when they grab a hold, they will take your will to live. Everything that made you you is gone. You don't want to talk, you don't want to move. You're a shell."
