Although copyright dated 1956 and passed by the British Board of Film Censors with a "U" certificate on 4 December 1956, United Artists did not get round to showing it to the London press until 9 September 1957 with one 10:30 screening at the UA Own Theatre in Wardour Street. For the public distribution UA decided on a "floating" arrangement rather than a general release to every cinema, but the film got plenty of showings.
