"Pssica", the show's original title and the word Janalice whispers a few times, is a regional slang from Pará. It comes from nheegatu, a native indigenous language, and it means "bad luck" or "curse". The slang is used when you want to wish bad luck to someone or curse them. This was explained by Edyr Augusto, the author of the book on which the series was based on.
