The Fatheads VHS tape is orange. The Nickelodeon tapes from the 90s were all Nickelodeon orange.
Instead of using tablets to draw the storyboards for this special, it was actually storyboarded by hand, which doesn't happen very often these days.
The special was originally intended to air on Nickelodeon in 2018, the same year production was completed, but released on Netflix in summer 2019.
The picture next to the Fatheads at the beginning of the their special is actually a picture of writer, voice actor and The Fatheads creator, Mr. Lawrence, who voiced Filburt and co-wrote the script.
Takes place following the events of "Future Schlock" in Rocko's Modern Life: Put to Pasture/Future Schlock (1996).
"[from trailer] Rocko: The 21st century is a very dangerous century."
"Rocko: This is not right! This isn't just new Fatheads, it's different Fatheads! We can't like this. [He points an accusing finger at Rachel] Rocko: You! You changed it, Rachel. You changed the Fatheads! It's too much change. Winds of Change: Rocko, let me tell you something. The nature of change is... Ed Bighead: Let me take this, Mr. Gassy-Cloud thing, whatever you are. Rocko, we can't live in the past. We can be grateful for it. But life isn't permanent, and if we don't embrace what's now, we miss out on a lot of important stuff. Rocko: But- [Ed and Rachel give Rocko encouraging smiles. He looks at Heffer and Filburt. Heffer takes a picture of Rocko with a smartphone] Rocko: Okay. I guess change is okay."
