Rahul Khanna was upset with something during the making of the film. Possibly the length of his role. He refused to speak about the film in later interviews.
The film was due to a theatrical release in Canada . For unknown reasons it did not happen.
Nandita Das stated "I did not like Monsoon and told Jagmundra I did not want to do his film. I only said yes when he told me about the research he did, the money he had to pay to bring the ghastly facts to light.. He told me it was not Jag Mundra making the film, but Jagmohan Mundra of Kamla making the film.
