IMDbShaggy's "truck" is actually a mid-1980s Suzuki Samurai.
This is the only Scooby-Doo animated movie not to involve Frank Welker, whose regular series character Fred Jones was written out.
The Boo Brothers are basically ghost versions of The Three Stooges. There is also some resemblance to Casper's regular antagonists The Ghostly Trio, who were probably also based on the 3 Stooges.
The Boo Brothers are advertised as Ghostbusters, which are references to Ghostbusters (1984) and The Blues Brothers (1980). Both comedy films star Dan Aykroyd. When the heroes are looking for ghost exterminators in the Yellow Pages, there is a spoof of the Ghostbusters logo on the left hand page.
In addition to his usual wise guy personality, Scrappy Doo compensates for the absence of the Mystery Inc. ensemble, by taking on the braininess of Velma and the inventiveness of Fred.
"Shaggy: Let me get this straight. You guys are g-g-ghost exterminators? Freako: That's right mac, the Boo Brothers. If they're hauntin', we're huntin'."
"Sheriff Rufus Buzby: This is my twin brother TJ. He likes to dress up in a sheriff's uniform and answer calls on an illegal radio. Your call for help must've led him right to the treasure. [to TJ] Sheriff Rufus Buzby: TJ, this masquerade is now over."
