TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

This film is dedicated to Don Messick, the original voice of Scooby-Doo.

This is the first time Scooby-Doo shows any aggression toward another animal. In all previous series, he is kind and friendly toward not only cats but others such as mice, gophers, chicks, etc.

Plot and character elements are recycled from other Hanna Barbera projects written by Glenn Leopold, including Swat Kats: The Radical Squadron: The Curse of Kataluna (an unfinished work), The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest: Eclipse (1996), and The Pirates of Dark Water (1991) which had a pirate ship named Maelstrom.

This film marks the first time someone besides Casey Kasem voices Shaggy. Reason being, Kasem refused to provide the voice of Shaggy if he would not be vegetarian like himself (Shaggy eats crayfish in this movie). Instead, Shaggy is voiced by Billy West.

Screenwriter Glenn Leopold's prior credits include Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo: The Night Ghoul of Wonderworld (1979), Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo: Twenty Thousand Screams Under the Sea (1979), and Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo: The Ransom of Scooby Chief (1980).

Popular Dialogues

"Daphne Blake: What I need is a real, live ghost. Velma Dinkley: That's an oxymoron, Daph."

"Norville 'Shaggy' Rogers: [after Shaggy and Scooby-Doo fall into the hole, Mojo the pig snorting at them from above] Zoinks! How humiliating! Chased into a hole by 1/3 of a B.L.T.!"
