TRIVIA

Trivia

Charles Dance claimed that writer and director Woody Allen didn't give any direction for his performance, and further claimed that he was asked to arrive on-set in his own suit and tie, upon which he filmed his scene and left.

The lead character (originally an adult journalist) was tailored specifically to Scarlett Johansson, whom Woody Allen observed as having an unused "funny" quality about her while working on Match Point (2005).

This is one of three 2006 movies to feature the topic of magic and magicians as main characters. The other two are The Illusionist (2006) and The Prestige (2006), the second of which also stars Hugh Jackman and Scarlett Johansson. Woody Allen was tutored in magic and illusion for the movie by Scott Penrose.

Sondra Pransky (Scarlett Johansson) studies journalism at the fictional Adair University. This is the same university from which Harry Block (Woody Allen) was expelled and by whom he was subsequently honored in Deconstructing Harry (1997). It was later mentioned as the university where Abe Lucas (Joaquin Phoenix) previously taught philosophy in Irrational Man (2015).

Mrs. Eastby (Margaret Tyzack), one of the murdered characters in Match Point (2005), is one of Sidney's (Woody Allen's) co-passengers.
