TRIVIA

Trivia

The make and model of the regularly seen little yellow car was a 1978 Leyland Clubman Mini Light Van Panel Van. It's appearance in the movie is a homage and reference to the yellow mini featured in the earlier classic Kiwi comedy 'Goodbye Pork Pie' (1980). The New Zealand Herald reported that this film's ''first-time feature director Paul Murphy is the son of Geoff Murphy, maker of the legendary 'Goodbye Pork Pie'.''

The make and model of the vintage jalopy that was being restored in the garage was a 1914 or 1915 black Ford Model T Touring convertible passenger car.

Debut theatrical feature film directed by television and commercials director Paul Murphy.

This independently produced movie was shot mainly on the idyllically beautiful Kapiti Coast of New Zealand's North Island.

Actress Tina Cook found playing Sugarpuff (Waz's larger than life sweetheart) a challenge in that she had to find her equilibrium. She said: "I have worked more in theatre and radio so found a film a little intimidating. There's less rehearsal time or chances to research the character. Luckily the gorgeous Jed was very generous and we managed to get time to run through our scenes together. I quickly got into the rhythm of the other garage guys too. Sugarpuff was a delightful part - I could have played her in a more malicious way but decided although she was loud and 'in your face' she was totally happy with herself and where she was in life."
