TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

"Christ it was supposed to be a fun film and Steiger is far far from having a sense of humor" Henry Hathaway said about his star Rod Steiger.

A fifteen tons real safe was used for the heist sequence. Rod Steiger and Michael Dante actually cracked the safe for the shooting, advised by technicians from the vault company.

The theme from Laura (1944) was used in one of the nightclub scenes.

Richard Widmark, Anne Bancroft, and Fredric March were originally offered the lead roles, and subsequently Stewart Granger and Jean Simmons were sought to headline the film.

Both Rod Steiger and Edward G. Robinson played Al Capone's character in the past; Little Caesar (1931) for Robinson and Al Capone (1959) for Steiger.

Popular Dialogues

"Theo Wilkins: Now, an international axiom. A man who says "whiskey" is an Englishman. A man who says "double whiskey" is an Irishman. But a man who asks, "Have you any ice?" is an American."
