Several scenes in the movie were shot inside New York's Henri Bendel department store. So as not to disrupt normal business, motion picture equipment was brought in at closing time and filming would go on all night. When customers arrived at the store each morning, all traces of the production had vanished.
Sarah Michelle Gellar stated that this was one of her least favorite films she had been in.
The original title for this movie was "Vanilla Fog."
This was the last movie Gene Siskel reviewed before his death; he gave the film a "thumbs down."
The female lead was supposed to be middle-aged, according to the script, but was rewritten to be a 20-year-old so that Sarah Michelle Gellar could be cast. The studio wanted to cash in on Gellar's popularity as the result of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997).
"Amanda Shelton: My friend Nolan told me this thing about men and sex, that they think about it 238 times a day and when they do they adjust their belts. Tom Bartlett: That's ridiculous, no, no, not the belt- I meant the amount. That's ridiculous. Do the math I'm awake maybe 17 hours a day. Times 60 would be 1020, divided by 238, that would be sex about every 4 minutes... yeah, yeah, that's about right. Amanda Shelton: I've been here 20 minutes."
"Tom Bartlett: If the broom fits, ride it!"
