When the film was first announced, Louis Garrel was originally cast in the role of Jacques, alongside Vincent Lacoste as Arthur. Garrel later dropped out and was replaced by Pierre Deladonchamps.
While Arthur makes a fuss about being from Brittany and the fact that his two hosts are Parisians, ironically, the actor playing Arthur is a native Parisian, while the other two actors are not.
The character of Jacques (Pierre Deladonchamps) shares his surname with Pier Vittorio Tondelli, an Italian author who died of AIDS.
The filming begins in mid-June 2017 in Brittany, precisely during two days in Binic and twenty days in the city center of Rennes. The Filming also continues in Paris and Amsterdam.
"Pierre: Cruelty is not one man wounding another, mutilating or torturing him, severing his limbs or his head, or even making him cry. The true, terrible cruelty is that a man who cuts another off, interrupting him like dots in a sentence, or looking away from him, making him an error of the gaze, an error of judgement, an error like a letter crumpled up after starting it, after writing the date."
