2008 Olympic gold medalist, Nastia Liukin, has a cameo in this film. She was 'chosen to win' the uneven bar competition.

Originally there were to be two sisters on the team played by Courtney and Kim Hirose, but Kim decided her senior year of high school would be more important so the sister characters were removed.
One of the gymnasts asks "Who died and named you Nadia?" This is a reference to gymnast Nadia Comaneci who later appears as herself in the film.
Before the in-house competition, the girls are spraying sitck 'em beneath their leotards. The stick em prevents their leotards from riding up into a wedgie. During a competition, if a gymnast de-wedgies herself during a routine the judges will deduct from her score.
