In troubled times, Kanbei persuades his lord to join forces with the powerful Oda Nobunaga. However, through betrayal, he is imprisoned and lamed for life. Kanbei endures these hardships and later becomes a key strategist for Toyotomi Hideyoshi, playing a crucial role in the unification of Japan. His son, Nagamasa, goes on to serve Tokugawa Ieyasu.
