Claims to be the "world's first fully integrated puppet feature film".
Puppeteer Bern Ogodnik claims that it takes up to ten years just to perfect the movement of the hands of a marionette puppet, and that perfectly moving all the strings of the entire body can maybe be learned in twenty-five years.
The filmmakers wanted all the world's cultures to be represented in the movie's names, designs, et cetera.
Czech puppeteers all refused to work on the movie when told how much the puppets had to do.
This movie went seven million Danish kroner over budget (approximately one million US dollars).
"Zita: I end where you begin. And where you end I begin."
"Kahro: [Writing his goodbye letter to Hal Tara] Hal, my son. When you read this letter, I shall be dead. I leave you the throne of Hebalom. You have not yet been to war and been part of the evil that has darkened our lives for centuries. The ancient hatred between ourselves and the Zeriths. In which myself played myself such a large part. I cannot forgive myself, I wish to die, Hal. Do what I could not, create peace and justice between ourselves and the Zeriths. But beware of Nezo, my wicked brother and his treacherous henchman Ghrak. As for your sister, do not let her leave your side. Guard her more closely than your own life. My son, it is time now that I cut my head string and end my life. A life that has taken so much - But given so very little. [Cuts his head string and dies]"
