Brian Cox was the first to suggest to make Logan Scottish (originally Logan was Québécois), but was turned down. He was later informed late into Season 1 filming that Logan was changed to be Scottish from Brian Cox's own hometown of Dundee.

Brian Cox (born 1946) is only ten years older than Alan Ruck (born 1956) who plays his son.
The production initially wanted Kieran Culkin to read for the part of cousin Greg, but he didn't feel he was right for the part and so opted for Roman instead with the role of Greg going to Nicholas Braun.
