TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

The fight featuring Rob Van Dam was initially designed to be much shorter, with a scheduled filming time of only a few hours. The filmmakers ended up being so impressed with Van Dam's physical abilities that the fight was made much longer and took almost a full day to shoot.

The film's premise was inspired by the World Wrestling Federation steroid scandal that took place during the early 1990s. WWF owner Vince McMahon was accused of distributing steroids among his performers, and this is mirrored by Keith Vitali's character feeding his fighters steroids as well. However, unlike Vitali's character, McMahon was acquitted of the charge.

The pendant given to Jack Cody by Mike Rocco, in the shape of an open-palmed hand, is a core symbol of the Jain religion. The hand represents the concept of complete nonviolence, or "Ahimsa."

Rob Van Dam's feature film debut.

A particular shot in one of Keith Vitali's fight scenes required over 48 takes to perfect.

Popular Dialogues

"Dark Cloud: I wouldn't do that Bubba! Gang Leader #1: My name's not Bubba! Dark Cloud: [mocking] Name's not Bubba! If I say your name is Bubba, your name is Bubba! [kicks at a gang member running towards him] Gang Leader #1: What do you want man? Dark Cloud: 30 percent of your action! Gang Leader #1: What the hell for? Dark Cloud: So that doesn't happen to you! Gang Leader #1: No thanks man! Dark Cloud: Look, you got a nice operation here, Bubba. Drugs, extortion, grand theft auto. Even looks like a little prostitution and we want in. Gang Leader #1: [laughs] And if I say No? Dark Cloud: You can't say no, Bubba. By the way, it's up to 40 percent now. Do you want to make it 50 by complaining some more? Gang Leader #1: Screw you man! Dark Cloud: [turns to Budokai] What did he say? Budokai: [laughs] I think he said screw you. Dark Cloud: [laughs] He's funny, but that's the wrong answer Bubba! [starts fighting gang with Budokai and Night Stalker]"
