Lobo mentions Earth being in Sector 2814. This is a reference to Green Lantern lore, where all of known space has been divided up into 3600 sectors. Each sector is being patrolled by one Green Lantern at least. Earth is in Sector 2814.
The words «frag» and «bastich» were invented for the character of Lobo as to circumvent comic book censorship back in the 1990s. However, in this movie, Lobo frequently says the word «shit», making the self-censoring superfluous. However, «frag» and «bastich» have become iconic words of the character and therefore can't be taken away without being unfaithful to one of the rudest characters in the DC Universe.
The sound used for Lobo's space bike is the characteristic sound produced by Harley-Davidson V-Twin motors, overlaid with some science fiction noises. The chugging of the engine, however, is unmistakable seeing as Harley-Davidson wanted to patent the sound in the 1990s.
Loosely based on the graphic novel "Superman: American Alien" by Max Landis, published by DC Comics in 2015.
Lobo being on the hunt for the last Kryptonian is an idea brought up in Alan Grant's novel "DC Universe: Last Sons".
"Martian Manhunter: ...The last thing your mother ever said to you was: "to dwell in the past, is to lose one's path ""
"Superman: They meet someone from stars and their first instinct is to fire at will. Martha Kent: They love you. Superman: They don't know me, and I am afraid that when they do... Martha Kent: Maybe you are what they need. If they know about you maybe they will see things differently. Jonathan Kent: Or maybe the government will lock him up, or worse. Superman: At some point they are going to ask me "Where I am from and why I was sent here?" And I won't have the answers. And in the meantime, one way or the other Lois is going to publish her expose. Jonathan Kent: You know what they are going to say, what we've always said: the world is dangerous and unforgiving. If you are different, special, you have two options: you can either... Superman: Either meet it head-on and accept the consequences or you can keep you head down and accept the consequences. There is no wrong choice, but... Martha Kent: But you have to make one. Superman: Why? Jonathan Kent: Because you are not our little boy any more. Becoming a man means making these choices for yourself. Just be ready. Because each choice, each action, has consequences."
