The sky banner at the end of the movie contained at least 390 words or 2,070 characters. Since the cost was $50 per letter (assuming they counted the punctuation and 32-plus periods as letters), that exorbitantly long banner would have cost the Solomon brothers 103,500 dollars. With a six percent sales tax, the total would've come to 109,710 dollars.
According to the film's audio commentary, principal photography was done during a record heat wave in California. Most of the scenes the brothers share feature them wearing parkas or similar long-sleeved clothing, which caused the actors to get quite hot.
The name John Solomon (and the Solomon surname) comes from Will Forte's friend and writing partner John Solomon, one of the co-writers of MacGruber.
