TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

Jack Nicholson's own experience in the hospital, just prior to filming, inspired some of the dialogue and acting for the movie. For example, the mirrored glasses seen in the movie were not originally in the script, but Nicholson, who obtained them while in the hospital, brought them to the set. Director Rob Reiner decided to include them in the film.

Morgan Freeman's real-life son, Alfonso Freeman, plays his son in this movie.

Morgan Freeman once said in an interview that Jack Nicholson was on his bucket list, and eventually got the chance of acting with him in this movie.

Jack Nicholson shaved his head for the film. Morgan Freeman wore a bald cap.

Kopi Luwak is indeed the most expensive coffee in the world, priced between $120 and $600 per pound. Its production is very slow due to its "animal stage". The beans come from coffee berries which have been eaten by, and passed through the digestive tract of, the Asian Palm Civet.

Popular Dialogues

"Edward Cole: Three things to remember when you get older: never pass up a bathroom, never waste a hard-on, and never trust a fart. Thomas: I'll keep that in mind as I approach decrepitude."

"Carter Chambers: Even now I cannot understand the measure of a life, but I can tell you this. I know that when he died, his eyes were closed and his heart was open. And I'm pretty sure he was happy with his final resting place, because he was buried on the mountain. And that was against the law."
