Rotten TomatoesA political thriller called "The Company You Keep" looks at what happened following the Weather Underground, a radical activist group from the 1960s. Jim Grant, a former member of the gang who fled following a bank robbery in which a guard was slain, is the focus of the film. Grant flees after a young reporter learns who he really is in order to clear his name and track down his ex-girlfriend, who the FBI has also been looking for. As Jim Grant, a man caught between his past and present who is attempting to reconcile his acts with the person he has become, Robert Redford gives a stirring performance. While Susan Sarandon gives a memorable performance as a Weather Underground member suffering the repercussions of her previous deeds, Shia LaBeouf plays the ambitious reporter who unearths the truth and becomes involved in the tale. In general, "The Company You Keep" is a provocative movie that poses significant issues regarding political activism and the delineation of right and evil. Fans of political thrillers and anybody interested in the background of social justice movements in America should not miss it.
