The third of sixteen movies for the suave detective nicknamed "The Falcon", released from 1941 to 1949, and the third of four starring George Sanders.

This is the first of three film versions of Raymond Chandler's "Farewell, My Lovely", with Gay Lawrence standing in for Philip Marlowe.

This is the third Falcon entry in a row in which Hans Conried plays a different character.

Two years after this picture, RKO would release their version of Raymond Chandler's novel, "Farewell, My Lovely," as Murder, My Sweet (1944) with Dick Powell and Anne Shirley.

Remade as Murder, My Sweet (1944) with Dick Powell and again as Farewell, My Lovely (1975) with Robert Mitchum.
