Peter Cushing filmed his small role in 4 days (May 12-15 1976) after completing his scenes for "Star Wars." It was his first US TV movie, broadcast on October 8 1976. Others that followed were "A Tale of Two Cities (1980)" in 1980, and "Helen Keller: The Miracle Continues (1984)" in 1984.
All advertising for this film incorrectly list the title as "The Great Houdinis." The on screen title remained singular.
Some,of the New York scenes were filmed on the " Hello, Dolly! (1969)" set which was still standing on the Fox back-lot in 1976.
