TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

Bray Manor is named after Bray Studios - the home of Hammer films.

A lot of character names throughout the film are homages to the horror genre as a whole. Examples being Sam Campbell (Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell), Father Maone (Hal Holbrook in The Fog), Arthur Craven (Wes Craven), Oliver Toole (Oliver Reed in The Curse of The Werewolf and Peter O'Toole).

The 'Vampyre' segment contains lots of shots that pay homage to numerous Hammer films, notably the Dracula entries. For example, when the Vampyre's hand disappears down into his cavern, it is framed to mirror the moment Christopher Lee's hand appears out of his coffin for the first time in Dracula Prince of Darkness.

Ian McNeice filmed all his 'Architect' scenes over two days between the 18th and 19th February. Only the producers knew he was coming, and kept his appearance a surprise to all the crew and select cast who were in scenes with him on the day. This was to give them a surprise on the day. His inclusion was kept a closely guarded secret until his reveal in the second trailer that came out in late April. However, while you know who is now playing The Architect, you still do not know what he is up to, hence why the #WhoIsTheArchitect hashtag is still being employed in the film's publicity.

The three Necromancers that appear in the film were referred to as "Larry", "Curly" and the lead Necromancer was "Moe" after the Three Stooges. The Necromancer that appears in early promotional material is known as "Shemp".

Popular Dialogues

"The Architect: I confess, I do love telling a good scary story..."

"The Vampyre (The Vampyre): I thought I would never see the beauty of dripping blood ever again."
