TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

Jena Malone stated that her stripping scene was filmed in a real hotel glass elevator that was not closed for production and guests could see in. Even though her nudity wasn't shown onscreen, she did actually actually strip naked in front of Woody Harrelson, Josh Hutcherson and Jennifer Lawrence during filming. Although she was surprised the scene wasn't being shot in a studio or soundstage, she went with the flow. Then, the moment she's was totally nude, the doors opened to reveal a hotel employee carrying a coffee cup holder. He's shocked to see her standing there stark naked. Malone tried to stay in character, but she just started laughing.

The book describes the previous two Quarter Quells. For the first, District members had to vote on who would be selected as the tributes. The second had twice as many tributes, two boys and two girls from each district. The book also reveals that Haymitch won the second Quarter Quell.

When Katniss is in the archery simulator, her targets resemble her fellow tributes. Notably, one throws Brutus's spears, one hurls axes like Johanna, and one carries a trident like Finnick.

The water scenes in the arena were filmed in a water park south of Atlanta. The water was barely more than 10 degrees Celsius (= 50 degrees Fahrenheit) and Lynn Cohen (Mags) was exempted from going into the waters at the request of director Francis Lawrence, who was concerned for her health. In the first scene in which she is carried on Sam Claflin's (Finnick's) back he loses his footing, bangs his knee on the rocks, and dumps them both into the water. He felt horrible about it, but she found it hilarious.

When shooting the scene where Katniss, Finnick, and Peeta eat fish, the actors and actress were actually eating raw fish. Neither Jennifer Lawrence nor Sam Claflin is particularly fond of fish, making it difficult for both actors to eat it. Lawrence had the hardest time, and Hutcherson and Claflin found her struggle very amusing.

Popular Dialogues

"Peeta Mellark: Katniss, I don't... I don't know kind of deals you made with Haymitch, but he made me promises too. [Pulls off the necklace from around his neck] Peeta Mellark: If you die, and I live, I'd have nothing. Nobody else that I care about. Katniss Everdeen: Peeta. Peeta Mellark: It's different for you. Your family needs you. [Opens locket to reveal three pictures - Gale, Prim, and her Mother] Peeta Mellark: You have to live. For them. Katniss Everdeen: What about you? Peeta Mellark: Nobody needs me. Katniss Everdeen: I do. I need you."

"Peeta Mellark: They won't touch Prim! All right? Johanna Mason: Your fiancé's right. The whole country loves your sister. If they tortured her or did anything to her - forget the districts - there would be riots in the damn Capitol. [Johanna screams at the sky] Johanna Mason: Hey, how does that sound, Snow? What if we... what if we set YOUR backyard on fire? You know you can't put everybody in here! [Everyone looks at her in disbelief] Johanna Mason: What? He can't hurt me. There's no one left that I love."
