For example, John Agar and Lori Nelson are playing themselves playing their characters Clete Ferguson and Helen Dobson, which are characters copyrighted and owned by Universal.
John Goodwin was cast on the basis of his performance in a student film by S.S. Wilson, Recorded Live (1975), in which he battled a stop-motion pile of hungry videotape. Goodwin also appeared in Tremors (1990), co-written by S.S. Wilson and Brent Maddox.
