When Beth flips through photos on Owen's phone, one of the first photos shown is of two men laughing. The photo is of the film's screenwriters, Luke Piotrowski and Ben Collins, who met in high school in Georgia and began writing together in college.
A caerdroia is a Welsh turf maze, usually in the sevenfold Cretan labyrinth design. They were created by shepherds on hilltops and were apparently the setting for ritual dances, the nature of which has been lost.
With its mainly practical effects, Rebecca Hall found the film a refreshing change after all the green-screen work she had done on Godzilla vs. Kong (2021).
Premiered at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival. It was then withheld from release until a year and a half later due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
In the bar scene early on where Beth, Claire, Gary and Heather are discussing a book about how to engage and inspire their students, Claire responds, "yeah, just let them stand up on their desks or whatever, change their lives". This likely comes from Dead Poet's Society (1989), in which a motivated teacher, Mr. Keating (Robin Williams), has his students literally stand on their desks, among other things, to try and change their lives.
