TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

In one scene, Lou Costello bets on a horse named "Lolly C". That is an inside joke, referring to Costello's mother, Helen Cristillo, who was an Associate Producer on this film.

During the dinner in the Copper Club, Ted (Bud Abbott) starts to tell the "Suppose you were 40 and the little girl was 10" joke. Tommy (Lou Costello) complains that he's "just a boy". Costello was, in fact, 42 years old (born 1906) at the time of the film's release (1948).

For breakfast Tommy eats pickles and milk, a snack Costello enjoyed in real life.

The horses in the second race include Menu, Lolly C, Lucky George, Flying Rhythm. Menu starts out strong but Lucky George wins by a nose. Lolly C comes in 2nd and Menu, 3rd.

Popular Dialogues

"Ted Higgins: What makes you so dumb? Tommy Hinchcliffe: It just comes naturally."

"Ted Higgins: I'd like to have a tooth pulled. I want no anesthetic and I don't care how much it hurts. Dentist's Assistant: Oh my, what a brave man you are! What tooth is it? Ted Higgins: [turns to Tommy] Show her the tooth."
